What do you want?
Most people will answer with – I don’t know, ooh tough question, mmmm let me think. This is what my business/team/boss/family wants.
Then it lands.
And the response often is a swell of emotion. That feeling that runs through your body and the rush of words or emotion comes out in some shape or form – laughter, tears, powerful words.
Then … it’s not about what I want. Because it’s not enough. I can’t. It’s selfish. I want this but I have no idea how to get there. My business needs this. My team need me. My family are relying on me.
And more.
What do you want?
I want you to not be afraid of what you want.
To understand why.
To not know how.
To be selfish so you can think big, long-term, and your future.
The reason you have all of these talents, skills, and imagination – your vision.
When you think about yourself; you will be able to fill your heart and mind to be able to then support others.
When you think about yourself; without constraints or limitations, you will tap into your creativity, and your heart, to the impact you truly want to make. What you want to bring into this world.
When you think about yourself; the ripples of positive energy and happiness will trickle out from you.
And it’s not about growth or enoughness.
This is about you. What 𝐲𝐨𝐮 want.
I feel such a swell of pride and warmth when we discuss what you want.
Sometimes it takes a while. Because it’s scary. No-one really asks you that. It can be hard to not have a defined path. But. When you start to feel the energy and draw of what you want, you start to create those possibilities.
Alignment.
Things start to align. Not over hours or days. Over months and years.
You start to be and feel more courageous.
Your people and the opportunities will align with you.
You create that.
And forget thinking of enoughness and growth. This is an evolution of alignment.
Don’t be afraid to think of what 𝐲𝐨𝐮 want.
What do 𝐲𝐨𝐮 want?
Growth is one of the stupidest purposes ever invented by any culture. We’ve got to have an ‘enough’. Always ask: growth of what, and why, and for whom, and who pays the cost, and how long can it last, and what’s the cost to the planet, and how much is enough”
Donella Meadows, mother of systems thinking.
